Azerbaijan Airlines and Turkish Airlines sign codeshare deal

Azerbaijan Airlines and Turkish Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement on routes between Azerbaijan and Turkey effective from March 29th, 2015.

The codeshare agreement allows passengers to benefit from a higher number of combined frequencies for better connectivity and increased travel flexibility between the two countries.

Under this codeshare agreement, Turkish Airlines will place its marketing code on Baku – Istanbul Ataturk / Sabiha Gokcen / Ankara flights of Azerbaijan Airlines.

In return Azerbaijan Airlines will place its marketing code on Istanbul – Baku / Nakhchivan / Ganja and Sabiha Gokcen – Baku flights of Turkish Airlines.

“The new codeshare cooperation with Turkish Airlines is an important milestone in growing our relationships with brotherhood country and providing our customers access to the destinations they value most,” said Arif Mammadov, vice president of Azerbaijan Airlines.

“This is the next step in strengthening our position in Turkey, allowing us to win new customers in the region.

Additionally, with an expanded Special Prorate Agreement on sectors beyond Istanbul and Baku, both airlines will be offering an extended network to their passengers.

“We are extremely pleased to sign this codeshare agreement with Azerbaijan Airlines and aim to improve our partnership to maximise the travel opportunities offered to passengers of two brother countries through the networks of both airlines.

“The codeshare agreement will improve our commercial cooperation thus creating new opportunities for our customers.

“Azerbaijan Airlines continues expanding successfully with a young fleet and we believe that this partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines will bring enormous benefit to both airlines from a commercial perspective in rapidly growing Azerbaijan,” said Ahmet Bolat, chief investment and technology officer, Turkish Airlines.
