Travelodge plans 19 hotels in 2016

Travelodge will open 19 new hotels in 2016, with an investment value of £140 million. This expansion is expected to create 450 new jobs and increase the company’s network to 542 hotels.

The new hotels continue the company’s drive to build a greater network for corporate customers.  New locations include further hotels in London and in key business locations across the UK regions; as well as further expansion in the fastest growing locations for leisure travel.

Key new business locations include: London, Glasgow and Bristol; with new leisure focused hotels opening in Poole, Weston-Super-Mare, Bicester and Thetford.

In addition to the 2016 openings, the company has identified 250 further locations for Travelodge development in the UK.  It today announces its first
three new hotel signings of the year; with new agreements signed to build and open hotels at: London Acton, London Wood Green and Oxford.

Peter Gowers, Travelodge Chief Executive said: “The value hotel market continues to go from strength to strength, boosted by ever more cost-conscious businesses and the growth in independent leisure travel.  To meet the growing demand Travelodge is continuing to invest in upgrading and expanding our network.  These 19 new hotels, many with our new bar café restaurants, mark another important step in our drive to deliver greater quality for our customers.

“Our recently completed £100 million hotel modernisation programme has raised quality levels and led to strong growth from business customers to complement our traditional strength in leisure travel.  We now see opportunity for hotels in 250 further locations across the UK and with early positive development momentum at the start of 2016, we are well positioned to deliver further strong growth in the years ahead.”
