Thomas Klühr appointed SWISS chief executive

Thomas Klühr is to succeed Harry Hohmeister as chief executive of SWISS in February 2016, as part of a broader realignment of the Lufthansa Group.

The new group organisation is designed to provide a more functional alignment and thrust, along with flatter hierarchies.

Hohmeister, who is already a member of the Lufthansa Group Executive Board, will take charge of the newly-created position of hub management thereon in January 2016.

The position of SWISS chief operating officer Rainer Hiltebrand is also to be integrated into the chief executives remit.

Hiltebrand will in future be responsible for developing the group wide training of flying personnel.

The Lufthansa Group announced the parameters earlier for the future overall structure of the entire aviation group.

The associated realignments involve SWISS, too, and should enable the group’s airlines and service companies to gear their products and also their processes even more consistently to the needs of their customer groups.

The realignment is also intended to enhance the Group’s overall efficiency, speed up decision-making and reduce complexities.
