The Modern Honolulu recently named industry veteran Kelly Hoen as the property's new general manager.

Managing Director Gerald Glennon will transition to the newly created position of director emeritus and senior advisor.

Glennon, a Honolulu hospitality veteran and former Halekulani general manager, started with The Modern Honolulu’s executive team as managing director in October 2012. Shortly after joining the property, Glennon assumed both the managing director and general manager roles.

As the hotel’s new director emeritus and senior advisor, Glennon will work closely with The Modern's ownership on further developing brand awareness, community projects and new partnerships.

Hoen brings nearly 35 years of experience to The Modern Honolulu, including her successful tenure as the general manager of The Royal Hawaiian, where she guided the hotel through its renovations, re-opening and market repositioning for the last six years. Active in the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association, she also serves on the Aloha United Way board and was named Pacific Business News’ Business Woman of the Year in 2012.
