Starwood Hotels & Resorts has named Stephanie Dowling its director of communications for the Hawaii region. In this new role, Dowling will lead the public relations team and the in-house advertising agency for Starwood’s 11 properties on four islands.

During the past two years Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Hawaii has transitioned its advertising from an external ad agency to an in-house agency. The restructuring now combines public relations and advertising into one communications area.

Dowling has nearly 20 years of experience in communications, public relations and marketing. Her career started in London, England as a public relations representative for the Asian British Bank, and she was nominated for two National Emmy Awards for work as a senior researcher and field producer with “NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw.” She also has managed and directed public relations and marketing for Tommy Hilfiger-USA, GoDaddy, The Fresh Air Fund and The Art Institute of Phoenix.

Dowling joined Starwood Hotels in August 2006 as director of public relations and marketing for The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Arizona. In September 2013, she was named regional director of public relations for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Hawaii.
