Schütz takes over as chief information officer at Lufthansa

Effective immediately, Roland Schütz has been appointed chief information officer of all Lufthansa Group airlines.

Alongside the premium hub airlines Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Swiss, are the flight operations of the second brand, Eurowings, which is to be developed into the third largest European carrier for point-to-point traffic.

In this new role, Schütz, to date chief information officer for Lufthansa Passage operative business, will consolidate all relevant digitalisation programmes in the IT sector.

Thus the digital transformation of all airlines in the Lufthansa Group is to be accelerated.

The aim is to serve customers of all airline brands with the most modern digital interfaces, mobile applications and comfortable booking and handling processes.

Schütz has worked for the Lufthansa Group since 2005, first as chief operating officer infrastructure services at Lufthansa Systems, a Lufthansa Group IT subsidiary.

In 2010 he took responsibility for the IT sector of the cargo subsidiary – Lufthansa Cargo, before being appointed chief executive of the largest business area of Lufthansa Passage in 2014.
