Renaissance Hotels adds to Paris portfolio

Renaissance Hotels has opened its sixth hotel in the emerging neighbourhood of La Republique, Paris. Conveniently located near Le Marais and Canal Saint Martin, Renaissance Republique, a former home for travelling artists, is ideal for experiencing the City of Lights’ newest ‘it’ district in style.

Renaissance Paris Republique

Inspired by the bohemian soul of the Republique district, the hotel has been modelled by renowned interior designer Didier Gomez. Best known for his creations for Yves Saint Laurent, LVMH, De Beers, among others, his interiors give an overall contemporary feel with exotic woods and tawny leather contrasted with contemporary artwork in the guestrooms and public spaces. Gomez’s design, a generous melting pot fitting with today’s Paris, includes cross-cultural features including a sculpture from African in the lobby, furnishings from Asia in the guestrooms and local Parisian street art throughout. In his design, Gomez has brought the outside in with tree motifs in the guestrooms, cloud shaped ceiling lights and a specular vegetation wall in the hotel’s expansive outdoor terrace.

Renaissance Hotels recently announced its new global “Fearlessly Chic” design philosophy where indigenous touch points infused into the design of each unique hotel capture a spirit of wanderlust to inspire guests to explore the neighbourhood and discover the unexpected.

“Today’s Next Generation business traveller has a desire for discovery and wanderlust. We are so pleased to be adding the Renaissance Republique to our Paris portfolio, where Renaissance Hotels have been so well received, to enable our guests to discover this thriving area of the city.” says Amy McPherson, president and managing director, Marriott International, Europe.

Guest Rooms

The 121 rooms, inspired by local artist workshops, feature natural wood and earth tones, which complement Tom Dixon’s “Art et Floritude” modern lighting, while vintage furniture by Jean Prouvet and Charlotte Perriand reflect the hotel’s unusual heritage.

“We designed Renaissance Republique with the local community in mind, first and foremost. We wanted to create a neighbourhood destination as we believe this is what today’s Next Generation traveller seeks from a hotel stay,” explains

Gomez. “The hotel features a high-low design approach that harmoniously incorporates luxurious high-end finishes with raw, gritty, concrete surfaces. Bold, contemporary and locally-inspired elements are infused into the various spaces of the hotel to captivate locals and guests and create moments of discovery.”

With six categories of rooms available, the Renaissance Republique offers some of the city’s largest hotel living space. The crowning glory of the hotel is the Penthouse Suite with a private terrace complete with Jacuzzi and outdoor cinema, with stunning views over northern Paris and the Sacré-Cœur basilica of Montmartre.

In addition to its Parisian charm, guests can expect the signature touches found across Renaissance Hotels that a feed the curiosity, fuel the imagination and excite the senses of guests, including complimentary vintage bicycles for guests to discover Paris and mixology kits in the guestrooms.

Origin Restaurant

Classic French dishes with local provenance are the order of the day at ‘Origin’, headed up by renowned Chef Bénédicte Van der Motte. Having previously worked with revered chefs Yannick Alléno & Eric Fréchon, Bénédicte brings a wealth of expertise to the hotel. Her menus exude bright and refreshing seasonal flavours and include a selection of delectable French dishes such as green asparagus and artichoke ‘Poivrade’ fresh egg bouillade; and Parmesan cheese and Rump of veal with green peas mousseline and shallots.

Martin Bar

The hotel’s Martin Bar, serving signature cocktails and a bespoke bar menu, adds a special touch to the classic dining experience. Meticulously designed by Didier Gomez, Martin Bar embodies the glamour of Paris, adding to the hotel’s intimate feel. Traditional French pastries, including Carron éclairs and fruit tarts accompany afternoon Claus Paris teas, whilst the evening drinks menu is accompanied by a selection of tempting amuse-bouche including a local cheese plate; sliced Bayonne ham; and homemade marinated salmon or duck rillettes with homemade bread.
