MSC CruisesMSC Cruises, in partnership with Samsung, is set to launch a new virtual cruise ship experience at Expo 2015 in Milan, Italy.

The tool is based on Samsung’s Gear VR headsets, and offers travelers a virtual video walkthrough of several vessels operated by MSC Cruises.

The tour guides guests through six key areas of the ship, including staterooms, pool areas and restaurants. Travelers can “sit” in the ship’s theatre and watch a show, or experience sensory technology that includes scents like fresh fruit, rosemary and basil, freshly baked bread or chocolate.

The new experience will be launched at Expo 2015, which runs from May 1 to October 31, 2015.

Other new developments from MSC Cruises include preview tours of the MSC Meraviglia, an all-ports ship due to be completed in 2017, and MSC Seaside, scheduled to be completed in winter 2017.
