Heathrow Airport Holdings has appointed Michael Uzielli as Chief Financial Officer. Michael is currently Finance Director for British Gas where he has helped drive revenue growth, championed a cost focus to increase efficiency, restructured the company’s pension schemes and led a highly engaged finance team. His work has also involved building strong relationships with the Government and energy industry regulators.
Michael has experience of the aviation industry having previously worked for British Airways as well as at Schroders.
Michael will succeed José Leo who leaves Heathrow at the end of March after eight years, having successfully transformed Heathrow’s finances, raising well over £11 billion of funding to transform Heathrow into one of the best airports in Europe and establishing a strong reputation in global markets for transparent financial reporting.
Michael’s starting date will be confirmed shortly.
Heathrow’s Chief Executive, John Holland-Kaye said: “I am delighted that we have such a worthy successor to Jose Leo. Michael brings great experience and skills which will help us take Heathrow from being one of the best airports in Europe to be one of the best in the world.”
