The town, with a population of more than 43,000, lies at the foot of the Pigno Massif.
The Greek port of Kavala on the Thracian Sea offers family-friendly beaches, as well as plenty of cycle routes and scenic hiking trails in the surrounding area.
The town is steeped in rich history and due to Kavala’s location on the Via Egnatia, an ancient Roman road, the Roman influence on the townscape is still clearly apparent even today.
