Disney Cruise Line has announced it will offer a “Star Wars Day at Sea” on eight sailings of Disney Fantasy in 2016.
The day-long celebration marks the first time Star Wars characters will appear onboard a Disney Cruise Line ship. The move follows Disney Cruise Line's recent addition of Frozen-themed activities to several Norway and Alaska itineraries.
Occurring on one day during each of the eight sailings, the event will include a deck party, character meet and greets, Star Wars-themed youth activities, unique food and beverage offerings and special merchandise. Additionally, the ship will host at-sea screenings of the Star Wars films and the new Disney XD animated series, Star Wars Rebels.
Youth activities will include a shipboard version of the Jedi Training Academy experience, in which children can learn lightsaber moves. There will also be Star Wars trivia games, arts and crafts, and a Mos Eisley cantina-themed experience for adults in the night club. Guests will be encouraged to dress up in their own costumes.
In the evening, a Star Wars deck party will include a stage show and a laser and fireworks display.
Star Wars Day at Sea will be on Disney Fantasy cruises sailing on January 9 and 23, February 6 and 20, March 5 and 19, and April 2 and 16, 2016. Departing from Port Canaveral, the seven-night Western Caribbean itinerary includes Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands and Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.
