Leading London City Airport operator CityJet is joining forces with Blue Islands, the Channel Islands airline.
The new partnership will provide islanders easy access to major European cities on hundreds of connecting codeshare flights every week from London City Airport through the CityJet network.
Currently Blue Islands operate alternate day direct flights from Jersey to Europe which customers find inconvenient.
The CityJet link provides the opportunity for daily services to Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin, Antwerp and Rotterdam; with many destinations now being served up to nine times per day.
This means that day returns to Amsterdam and Paris are now possible from Jersey.
Passengers will also benefit from Air Passenger Duty savings when booking connecting flights through the codeshare.
Blue Islands also announces an additional lunchtime service to London City offering 25,000 more seats per year and a 45 per cent increase in capacity.
The new flight will depart Jersey at 13:00, with the return flight departing London City at 14:40.
Patrick Lukan, CityJet chief commercial officer said: “I’m delighted to announce this partnership between two like-minded regional carriers, working together in a creative way to provide an inclusive travel experience for all our customers.
“This codeshare opens a number of new European destinations for Blue Island passengers through our extensive network from London City Airport, together with increased choice, convenience and flexibility.”
The new daily connecting flights via London City will commence early next year, the exact date will be announced in the coming weeks as schedules are finalised.
Blue Islands will cease to operate its alternate day flights to Amsterdam and Paris from January 5th 2015.
At which point Blue Islands will also end its twice weekly Zurich service, with the Geneva service continuing to operate during the ski seasons.
