At the conclusion of the ASTA Global Convention (AGC) in Washington, DC, the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) inducted its 2015-2016 Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
The following are the newly elected national directors-at-large, in alphabetical order:
- Jay Ellenby, Safe Harbors Business Travel Group
- Caitlin Gomez, HRG Worldwide
- Dave Hershberger, Prestige Travel Leaders
- Toni Lanotte-Day, Toni Tours, Inc.
- Eric Maryanov, All Travel
National Directors serving the second year of their two-year terms include:
- Roger E. Block, Travel Leaders Franchise Group
- Jackie Friedman, Nexion, LLC
- Jorge Sanchez, Mena Tours & Travel Inc.
- Gloria Stock Mickelson, Travel Leaders Franchise Group
The outgoing members of the board are John I. Lovell, Laura Rodriguez, Marilyn Bell Zelaya and Leo A. Zabinski.
The new board had one vote to determine who would be the next treasurer, and Jorge Sanchez was elected. The Executive Committee is comprised of the chairman (Roger Block), vice chair and secretary (Jay Ellenby), treasurer (Jorge Sanchez), CAC chair (Marc Casto) and ASTA’s president and CEO as an ex-officio and non-voting member.
ASTA’s governance structure calls for a Board of Directors that consists of nine national directors elected at-large for two-year, staggered terms; three chapter presidents representing the Chapter Presidents’ Council–Mike Weingart (Southwest Chapter who is the CPC Chair), Ralph Vasami (New York City Chapter) and Staci Blunt (Arizona Chapter); the chair of the International Chapter Presidents Council (Ertugrul Karaoglu); two Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) members (Jennifer Wilson-Buttigieg and Marc Casto); one NACTA member director (Dan Smith), and one Consortium member director (Alex Sharpe).
