airlinesThe International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced at its 71st Annual General Meeting and World Transport Summit this week in Miami that Aeromexico CEO Andres Conesa will serve as Chairman of the IATA Board of Governors. Conesa is the first Mexican citizen to hold this year-long position.

Conesa’s leadership in the airline and finance industries led to his most recent appointment. He has managed Aeromexico, Mexico’s largest airline, since 2005. Conesa has also been a member of the IATA Board of Governors since 2008. During his term, Conesa hopes to address the rising issues of climate change, conflict zones, widespread diseases and other critical events that are changing the airlines industry.

Speakers at the Annual General Meeting also announced that the 72nd IATA Annual General Meeting will be held in Dublin, Ireland. The Irish airlines Aer Lingus will host the event from June 1 through June 3, 2016.
