Indonesian divers have lifted the flight data recorder of crashed AirAsia Flight QZ8501 from the Java Sea, officials have confirmed.
They reportedly found the crucial black box flight recorders on Sunday.
It is believed they have also located the cockpit voice recorder, but divers have not yet managed to reach it.
“The navy divers in Jadayat state boat have succeeded in finding a very important instrument, the black box of AirAsia QZ8501,” commented senior ministry official Tonny Budiono.
The recorders were at a depth of 30-32 metres (99-106 feet), he said in a statement.

He confirmed that divers will try to shift the position of the wreckage to access the black box, but if the effort fails the team will lift the main body
using the ‘balloon technique’ which was also used to luft the tail, according to Budiono.
AirAsia flight QZ8501 disappeared in bad weather on 28 December with 162 people on board.
The aircraft, which was flying from Surabaya in Indonesia to Singapore, is thought to be buried deep in the Java Sea.
Dozens of bodies have been recovered, however most of the victims are still believed to be inside the fuselage, which has not been located.
