TAP Portugal and Brazilian GOL – Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes, the largest low cost airline in Latin America, have agreed on an operational codeshare partnership, which will provide greater convenience for those looking to travel from Europe to a number of different destinations in Brazil.
This will result in improved services to customers of both companies.
TAP is now able to offer multiple flight options to several Brazilian cities, on top of the 12 served directly from Europe.
Using GOL‘s Brazilian network, TAP will now be able to offer direct links between the international hubs it already serves, and also offer customers a significant number of new destinations such as Teresina, Austin, Curitiba, Florianópolis, Iguaçu, João Pessoa, São Luiz, Goiânia, Maceió, Porto Seguro, Victoria and Campina Grande.
It is expected that in the near future this cooperation will be extended to a total of 29 destinations within Brazil.
Currently, TAP offers up to 81 weekly flights from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, via Lisbon or Porto, to 12 destinations in Brazil: Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Salvador, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Campinas, Porto Alegre, Manaus and Belém.
GOL’s network extends to a total of 54 destinations in Brazil as well as another 15 destinations throughout in South America, the Caribbean and the United States.
Both companies continue to work towards interlinking their respective loyalty programs, TAP Victoria and GOL’s Smiles, in the near future, creating multiple options to earn and use miles over TAP and GOL’s respective networks.
TAP believes that implementing this code-share with GOL will meet the expectations of its customers in the UK market, creating a much wider network throughout Brazil.
