Tune Hotels, pioneers of the hotel industry’s ‘limited service’ model, has celebrated the opening of its eighth UK hotel this month in Liverpool’s city centre.
The 100-bedroom hotel on Castle Street has been developed by Hotel Land & Development and will become the latest addition to the global portfolio of Tune Hotels.
Work has been underway since late last year to completely strip out the new hotel site, which is adjacent to the city’s Town Hall, and replace it with a contemporary budget hotel.
Each Tune room comes equipped with high quality basics such as Hypnos beds and power showers.
“Liverpool is one of the key cities in the north-west not only from a commercial point of view, but it also has a long established tourism industry for both domestic and international travellers,” said Mark Lankester, chief executive of brand, assets and capital markets at Tune Hotels.

“Last year saw 32 million visitors spending £2.3 billion in the city.
“This resulted in over 560,000 overnight stays from international visitors, 1.47 million from UK travellers and some 289,000 from business tourism – there is undoubtedly a healthy demand for high-quality yet affordable accommodation.
“This makes Liverpool the ideal destination for us to expand our UK portfolio.
“Tune Hotels is the choice of the savvy traveller guaranteeing a safe and comfortable night’s sleep without breaking the bank, and all in great central locations – Castle Street is therefore the perfect site being in the heart of the city’s business district and the Queen Buildings has played a role in the history of Liverpool since it was built back in 1837.
“We hope that it will continue to do so as part of the Tune Hotels Group for many years to come.”
The new Tune Hotel is ideally placed for the leisure market and will be accessed via Queen Avenue, which already boasts a collection of independent retail outlets including Cau restaurant, Moose Coffee and R&H Fine Wines.
It is also close to a number of local attractions such as Liverpool’s iconic Cavern Club, River Mersey, Goodison Park and Anfield stadiums.
The global chain, which already has seven hotels in operation across the UK and opened a new hotel in Canary Wharf in March 2015, recently confirmed an expansion plan equivalent to £200 million investment into the UK market.
Unveiling plans to open 25 new properties by 2020, the company anticipates this will create significant employment growth in the hospitality sector.
