Hilton Worldwide announced the appointment of Tom Potter as senior vice president, Caribbean and Latin America. Potter takes the helm of the region’s owned and managed portfolio, while playing a key role in the company’s ambitious expansion plans throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.
With more than 35 years with Hilton, Potter has had a front row seat to the company’s growth in Latin America. In his new role, he is focused on continuing this effort and being a driving force in the region’s success.
“Expanding our footprint in Latin America is one of our top priorities and I am committed to working closely with our development partners to keep this momentum going strong,” said Potter in a written release.
Development of human talent is a focal point of Potter’s strategy in the Caribbean and Latin America, and he is working closely with the region’s human resources leaders so team members across the region are “engaged, empowered and inspired,” according to the release. A number of initiatives are currently in place to support this effort, including programs that help attract, cultivate and motivate team members.
Potter is also committed to ensuring hotels and resorts throughout the Caribbean and Latin America provide the technology and products that best serve travelers to the region.
Most recently, Potter served as area vice president, Central and South America. During this time, Potter was a crucial contributor to expanding the company’s presence in Latin America and while fulfilling this role, drove a number of Hilton Worldwide openings. Prior to this, Potter led the team responsible for the grand opening of the Hilton Sao Paulo Morumbi in 2002, where he then remained as general manager until 2006.
