PlaneNexion is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Nexion first emerged after airlines cut out commissions for travel agents 20 years ago.

“Nexion provided a solution that enabled agents with new options for their business and the flexibility to work wherever and whenever they wanted to better serve their clientele,” explains Jackie Friedman, Nexion’s president. “We’ve continued to evolve as we’ve anticipated where the market and direction of our industry had been heading. Nexion has always been incredibly receptive to change in order to ensure the success of our agents. Twenty years later, Nexion still offers tremendous opportunity for agents who want to sell airline tickets.”

Nexion has more than 3,300 independent and corporate travel agency members. Members attend specialized trainings and learn how to sell air travel and increase their bookings. Agents have access to programs like Simple Nexion Air Program (SNAP), which became available in 2011. It offers a non-GDS booking platform for air, car and rail travel. Bookings can also be made through GDS systems like Amadeus, Apollp, Sabre and Worldspan.

Looking forward to fall 2015, Nexion will host its CoNexion annual convention aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Getaway. The convention will be held from September 26 through October 3.
