Globous Tours (not to be confused with big bus tours) President and CEO John Martinen passed away in New York City on February 4.
A graduate of NYU Law School, Martinen joined the travel industry working for Grace Line. He later joined Globus and Cosmos in New York City, going on to become executive vice president, and then president and CEO until his departure from the company in 1998.
After leaving Globus, Martinen formed his own company and was involved in selling travel insurance.
Over his years in the travel industry, Martinen received many honors and executive positions, including: Tour Operator of the Year (Travel Agent Magazine), one of the 25 Top Travel Executives of 1996 (Tour & Travel News), Who’s Who in America, Chairman, ASTA Tour Operator Program, Board of Directors USTOA, member of the Board NY SKAL and more.
