Cunard has partnered with jazz label Blue Note Records on a jazz cruise aboard the Queen Mary 2, departing October 29.
The trans-Atlantic crossing will have performances by the Blue Note 75th Anniversary All Star Band, Our Point of View, formed for the label’s anniversary in 2014. The group consists of keyboardist Robert Glasper, trumpeter Keyon Harrold, tenor saxophonist Marcus Strickland, guitarist Lionel Loueke, bassist Derrick Hodge and drummer Kendrick Scott. The band's repertoire draws from each of these artists' catalogs, as well as new spins on notable Blue Note songs.
Don Was, a musician, president of Blue Note Records and a Grammy Award winning producer for Bonnie Raitt and the Rolling Stones, will also sail on the voyage and participate in Q&A sessions.
Cunard will also host two more jazz cruises in 2016 with artists from Blue Note Record's group of musicians.
