Colombia welcomes UK visitors as prices fall

Over the last decade, Colombia has remarkably and steadily grown as a popular tourist destination, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

The year round sunshine, fascinating culture, natural beauty and hassle free entry requirements make this county a must for anyone seeking a truly unique experience.

And now thanks to the strengthening of the pound against the Colombian peso there has never been a better time to plan your visit.

Everything from cuisine and shopping to adventure and lodging can be experienced on a smaller budget.

For example, last year travellers could expect to pay approximately £31 (or $97,500 Colombian pesos) for a three course meal in Cartagena.

Today, you could have the same meal for less than £21.

In the same vein, a designer women’s swimsuit would retail for approximately £64 in 2014, whereas today, you would be able to purchase that same suit for only £42.

Now, more than ever, travellers can up their game and experience a more sophisticated, top-tier Colombian holiday with hotels, tours and attractions all costing substantially less.

Increased UK flight capacity and a booming hotel sector has helped to attract more UK visitors, who are travelling largely to Bogota, Cartagena, Medellin and Santa Marta.

To date UK visits to Colombia are up by a quarter on 2014.

What’s more, Colombia’s national airline Avianca has just teamed up with ProColombia to offer big savings on direct flights to the country’s capital.
