American Cruise Lines has announced that the soon-to-be-renamed Queen of the Mississippi will be joining the Queen of the West on the Columbia and Snake Rivers in the Pacific Northwest, doubling the line's capacity in the region.

The river cruise line said it plans to sail its brand-new paddlewheeler riverboat, America, in place of Queen of the Mississippi on the Mississippi River in early 2016.

The Queen of the Mississippi offers guests staterooms with sliding glass doors opening to private balconies, a glass-enclosed dining room and seven lounges throughout the ship for relaxation. While on board the guests learn about Pacific Northwest history and culture.

The new paddlewheeler America is scheduled to be launched this week in Salisbury, MD, and will be moved to its East Outfitting Basin for completion of the upper decks and final outfitting. A new Queen of the Mississippi is also under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding.
