Signature Travel Network recently held its 2016 Member Appreciation Trip on a seven-night river cruise on the Maria Theresa to celebrate the achievements of 100 of the network’s leading members. This land and river cruise program, conducted by Alex Sharpe, president and CEO of Signature, and hosted by Guy Young, president of Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, included a voyage from Antwerp, Belgium, to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with a number of special experiences on board, as well as events before and after the cruise in Brussels, Belgium, and Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
“Because the trip took place less than one week after the recent terrorist attacks in Brussels, the program had an even deeper meaning beyond recognizing our members,” said Sharpe. “I am very proud of the fact that 100 of our leading members traveled to Brussels and stood up for the freedom to travel during a very difficult time.”
Vivienne Kouba, vice president of the Leisure Travel Division at the Western Region of Peak Travel, a Direct Travel Company, said, “Brussels has so much to offer — art, culture, cuisine, chocolate, and so much more. Tourism plays a big part in the recovery of Belgium’s economy, and we need to support our partners in Europe when they need us most.”
During the trip, Signature members enjoyed walking tours in various destinations, rode bicycles through the countryside, explored Rotterdam’s harbor, cruised through the province of Zeeland, and visited the world-famous art collections of the Rijksmuseum. Every evening featured an activity such as: classical music concerts, walking tours, beer tastings with a beer sommelier, and special dining events. The highlight of the cruise was a special gala dinner, celebrating Signature’s 60th and Uniworld’s 40th anniversaries.
Before embarking on the river cruise, Brussels’ Hotel Amigo, a Rocco Forte Hotel, hosted Signature members for a special cocktail party, followed by a dinner at Sofitel Brussels Le Louise. After the cruise, Signature members were invited to a reception at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, followed by a formal dinner at the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam.
