A Hong Kong group plans to take its citizenM and Artyzen Habitat hotel brands to Shanghai, with new properties opening in 2017. The Artyzen Hospitality Group, owned by Shun Tak Holdings, is looking at Shanghai as the beginning of an Asia expansion.
The launch of citizenM Shanghai Hongqiao, in Shanghai, will mark the brand's first foray in Asia. There are other citizenM hotels in Amsterdam, Glasgow, London, New York, Paris and Rotterdam. Another citizenM in Taipei is schedule to open in late 2016. Artyzen will manage the Taipei hotel on a contract with Alpha Asia Macro Trends Fund Ilto.
The opening of Artyzen Habitat Hongqiao will mark the global debut of that brand.
“Shanghai is one of the most important cities in Asia and establishing our brand presence here first is key to our Asian regional growth plans,” said Robbert van der Maas, president of Artyzen Hospitality Group.
