Journeys International recently announced an expansion of its portfolio of destinations with the addition of Cuba and the “Rhythm of a Lively Land” trip.

During this 10-day trip, travelers will soak in the cities of Havana, Cienfuegos and Trinidad, talking to locals about their lives, their businesses, their arts and their histories. Visitors will see the natural beauty of Cuba by exploring Topes del Collantes National Park outside of Trinidad. The two departures are scheduled for spring 2016—February 9 (women’s-only) and March 22.

Journeys trips are designed hand-in-hand with trip leader Joslin Fritz, who is fluent in Cuban language and culture and has personal connections to bring travelers deeper into the community. Journeys travelers to Cuba will meet local artisans, young entrepreneurs, and social welfare program managers.

This unique itinerary includes many intimate encounters arranged especially for the tour’s small group, including visiting a school and talk to the headmaster after enjoying a performance by the students; chatting with fruit vendors at a local farmers market, meeting with a flora and fauna expert, discussing Cuba’s ration system with a bodega manager, visiting young entrepreneurs to learn what it’s like to run a business in Cuba and meeting with leaders of social welfare and arts associations.

In addition to trip leader Fritz, Journeys staff and directors are joining each departure as well.
