Mr & Mrs Smith is opening a new office in Los Angeles as part of its US expansion plans. The expansion will allow the team to provide even more bespoke travel booking services to discerning travelers, a need precipitated by the company’s rapid growth. In just one year of operation in the U.S., Mr & Mrs Smith has doubled its business and increased bookings by 300 percent in California alone.
“We’re seeing a clear desire in the U.S. for stylish and highly personalized hotel stays – people are choosing unique properties over big box hotel chains,” said James Lohan, founder of Mr & Mrs Smith. “We look for hotels that offer more than just a place to sleep. Our curated collection of properties, paired with Mr & Mrs Smith’s travel team booking experts, ensures every aspect of a vacation is unforgettable, from the moment of arrival to check out.”
Mr & Mrs Smith carefully selects and enlists tastemakers – professional chefs, designers, actors and musicians – to personally visit, carefully vet and anonymously review every hotel in the collection. The review process is extensive. Tastemakers book in for a stay – sleeping in the beds, sitting at the bar, and sampling the cuisine to ensure each experience is worthy of the Smith stamp of approval.
In line with its love for unique and high style spaces, Mr & Mrs Smith tapped lauded interior designer (and Mr & Mrs Smith tastemaker) Tamara Kaye Honey to create a bold, imaginative U.S. headquarters.
“I wanted to create a space for Mr & Mrs Smith that visually communicates its unique point of view on everything hospitality experiences should be,” said Honey. “The aesthetic of the new office is intentionally reminiscent of the boutique properties Mr & Mrs Smith curates for its travelers. It’s surprising, romantic, quirky and a little bit naughty.”
