On June 19, Oceania Cruises partnered with Food & Wine magazine to honor legendary chef Jacques Pépin on his 80th birthday during the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.
At a gala even on the Aspen Sundeck atop Aspen Mountain, Oceania Cruises President and Chief Operating Officer Jason Montague delivered an address on Pépin's contributions to the cruise line, followed by a celebratory Champagne toast. Afterward, a custom croquembouche cake, festooned with sparklers, was wheeled out, and Montague presented Pépin with a commemorative Champagne sabering sword.
Pépin's daughter Claudine, co-host of Pépin's award-winning “Cooking with Claudine“ television series, and his granddaughter Shorey, will join Pépin and his wife Gloria on the 10-day Iberian Inspiration itinerary departing Lisbon for Rome on July 7, 2015.
Throughout the year, the Marina and Riviera Culinary Centers will add “La Technique: A Celebration of Jacques Pépin’s 80th Birthday.” The class will showcase his life and legacy and teach his cooking techniques.
