Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hospitality company and a member of Dubai Holding, has appointed Katie Benson to the role of general manager at Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London.
Benson joins Jumeirah from Langham Group, where she was most recently chief executive and executive director of Langham Hospitality Investments, as well as regional vice president for the Americas and Caribbean for Langham Hospitality Group.
Prior to that, she combined her role as regional vice president for the Americas and Europe with the position of managing director at Langham London, where she re-launched the property following renovation, established the partnership with Michel and Albert Roux, and oversaw Artisan’s journey to being named the world’s top bar.
A joint British-Australian citizen, Benson has also worked as managing director of two further Langham hotels (Melbourne and Hong Kong), and held several senior executive positions for Starwood Hotels & Resorts throughout the Middle East, including Dubai, as well as in Australia and China, including general manager of the St Regis Beijing, the city’s first luxury hotel.
“It is great to return to London – a city I know so well from my childhood and previous roles – and to be joining Jumeirah, a fast-growing and innovative hotel group,” says Benson.
“I have long admired Jumeirah Carlton Tower due to its enviable location and long-standing reputation as one of the city’s top hotels, and I look forward to working with the team to enhance that reputation.”
Katie’s thirty-year career in hospitality has seen her specialise in general management and operations, human resources, asset management and development.
In her new role she will report to Doris Greif, Regional vice president, Europe, for Jumeirah Group.
