Following a hike in group bookings to the Isle of Wight, Wightlink Ferries, the ferry company of choice for those travelling to and from the Isle of Wight, has introduced online booking capabilities and lower fares for foot passengers.
For the first time, Wightlink now allows groups of 10 or more foot passengers to book their crossings online*. Foot passenger bookings can be made via Wightlink’s easy to navigate dedicated group travel webpage, which also provides booking information for groups of cars travelling over to the Isle of Wight: http://www.wightlink.co.uk/iow/go/tickets-prices/group-bookings
For groups travelling to the Island by foot, Wightlink offers discounted return ferry fares, which start at £12.20 per adult and £6.10 per child. Foot passengers also have the opportunity to bring their bikes on board for no extra charge, providing visitors with even more opportunity to explore the great Island outdoors.
Wightlink’s easy to use group booking capabilities and frequent ferry and catamaran crossings are ideal for groups of school children visiting the Island for educational trips. Those travelling over by foot can catch the train directly from London to Portsmouth Harbour Catamaran Terminal in just 1.5 hours, and enjoy a brief 20-minute sailing over to the Island. Alternatively, foot passenger groups can hop on board one of the many ferries sailing from Portsmouth or Lymington over to the Island in just 40 minutes.
Mark Persad, Head of Marketing, Wightlink Ferries, said: “Over the past year we have seen a significant increase in groups coming over to the Island. There is no doubt that this is due to the many exciting activities and events taking place on the Island throughout the year, and of course the wealth of things to do and places to see.
“To recognise this, we have enhanced our groups offer, making prices more competitive, and bookings easier than ever before. We look forward to working even closer with the groups industry in the year ahead.”
