A non-alcoholic “tea total” cocktail list has been introduced at The Bloomsbury Hotel bar in London in a collaboration with Rare Tea Company.
Available now in the Landseer Restaurant & Bar, the eight new cocktails have been developed by bar manager Mathieu Gaudin with Rare Tea’s founder, Henrietta Lovell, using her company’s high-quality tea leaves.
The Tea Total Cocktail List drinks, each priced at £6, include the Mintea Collins, a mix of peppermint tea, heather honey, lemon and mint, and On Your Todd, a refreshing mix of lemongrass tea, ginger, apple, pear and Fever-Tree soda water. The Jasmine Silver Tip Iced Tea is a fragrant blend of Jasmine Silver Tip Tea, elderflower syrup and lemon juice.
Hold the Hendrick’s is a mix of White Christmas Blend tea and cucumber tongues with new non-alcoholic distilled spirit Seedlip, lemon verbena reduction and Fever-Tree Tonic Water, served warm or chilled.
The Historic Isotonic is a warming blend of Rooibos Tea, sea salt, Ontario maple syrup and lemon juice, and The January 14th is a combination of Rooibos, pomegranate juice, a spiced blackberry and raspberry shrub, almond syrup and marmalade, also served warm.
Mathieu said: “Many of our guests ask for non-alcoholic alternatives to our cocktail list, particularly in January. I’m delighted to work with Rare Tea Company and create a new non-alcoholic cocktail list which truly rivals its alcoholic counterpart.
“Teetotal cocktails have come a long way since the typical sugary mocktails with umbrellas. As a mixologist it’s been challenging but exciting experimenting with classic flavours, new infusions and approaches to achieve the same great taste as traditional alcoholic cocktails.”
