Around 30,000 visitors poured into the Mission Hills Centreville complex over the weekend for its massive carnival party, the main highlight of which was Slide the City, the world’s longest water slide at 300 meters.

Having toured cosmopolitan cities like London, New York and Toronto, this weekend was Slide the City’s first appearance in China.

To accommodate the full size of the triple-track water slide, it was laid out along the venue’s main road, and guests experienced the adrenalin rush of zooming along its slippery track for a full 300 meters, equal to 1000 feet or the length of three football fields, contained safely within inflatable borders.

There was plenty for guests to do in between slides, as Mission Hills had taken full advantage of the sunny summer weather and transformed the venue into an expansive fairground with over 100 carnival stalls by international vendors.

Guests could shop for trinkets, enjoy freshly-prepared gourmet food, cool down with a drink, or try their skills at dozens of games, including larger-than-life, inflatable versions of basketball, darts and soccer.

To top it all off, a daily marathon of live musical acts, including popular local bands and internationally-renowned DJs, kept the festivities in high spirits.

Each day of the carnival saw a line-up of ten non-stop hours of live music with DJ Coco, Gloria Ansell, Kendy Lam, DJ Remis and global headliner Jamaster A.

“Summer is the perfect time for families and friends to enjoy some fun water activities outdoors. Slide the City is an outstanding concept that has brought joy to so many cities around the world, so we were excited to finally bring that joyful experience here to China,” said Ken Chu, chairman and chief executive of Mission Hills Group.

Slide the City was a prelude to the opening of the brand new project MH Mall at Mission Hills Centreville.

Slated to open on September 25th, MH Mall is a new destination-attraction ideal for entertainment, shopping and leisure, it is also set to be the focal point for both travellers and residents of all ages in Shenzhen North area.
