Avianca goes daily on London-Bogotá route from July

Colombia’s national airline, Avianca, has announced that it will increase the frequency of its London to Bogota flight.

Passengers wishing to fly from Heathrow to Colombia’s El Dorado International Airport will now have a choice of seven departures a week up from four.

The additional flight capacity comes in the wake of a huge surge in UK visitor numbers to the South American country which welcomed 32,212 Brits in 2014, up a massive 28.5 per cent on 2013.

Avianca flight 121 was launched in July last year and currently fly’s every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

From this July the flight will operate daily providing holidaymakers and tour operators with the flexibility to connect with Colombia whenever they chose.

The route, which is serviced by state of the art A330-200 planes, has the capacity to transport some 252 passengers to the Colombian capital in just eleven hours.

The night flight touches down in Bogota in the early morning allowing tourists to make the most of their first day’s holiday.

And for discerning travellers wishing to start their Colombian getaway in the ultimate style and comfort, Avianca offers 30 luxurious business class seats on each flight.

As well as more flight choice, Brits holidaying to Colombia are taking advantage of the recent changes affecting Air Passenger Duty.

Since April 1st a family of four flying from London to Bogota saves £56 in flight costs, giving holidaymakers more money to spend on arrival.

ProColombia, the government agency charged with the promotion of investment, trade and tourism to Colombia recently appointed Felipe Angel as its new UK director.

He said: “We are delighted that Avianca is increasing its London to Bogota flight capacity by more than 750 seats a week.

“The announcement further demonstrates the growing desire from UK holidaymakers to enjoy and explore our beautiful country.”
