Aer Lingus to expand US schedule for 2017

Aer Lingus has announced its 2017 Dublin summer schedule offering passengers from the UK even greater choice when flying to North America.

In addition to a host of additional frequencies, the airline has revealed further expansion of its long haul network with a new Dublin to Miami route, operating three times per week from September 2017.

The new Miami service is in addition to Aer Lingus’ existing transatlantic routes: Boston, Chicago, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, Washington and Toronto via Dublin and Boston and New York via Shannon, as well as the new routes to Los Angeles, Newark and Hartford, which commenced earlier this year.

The airline will increase its Los Angeles flight to a daily service for summer 2017, Dublin to Orlando will increase to four times per week, and Chicago will also increase to a double daily service in the same period.

Passengers from Britain can take advantage of the new services thanks to Aer Lingus’ easy transatlantic connections from 18 key UK airports.

When connecting in Dublin, Aer Lingus guests can pre-clear US customs allowing them to pass through domestic channels upon landing for a smooth and swift arrival in the USA.

The growth plan underpins Aer Lingus’ successful strategy of expanding its Dublin Airport base into a major European transatlantic gateway.

In addition to its expanded transatlantic network, the airline is also including two new European destinations to its summer schedule – Porto in Portugal and Split in Croatia – and extending its winter route from Dublin to Fuerteventura into the 2017 summer schedule.

Aer Lingus Chief Executive, Stephen Kavanagh made the announcement at a briefing in Dublin.

Speaking at the announcement, Aer Lingus Chief Executive Stephen Kavanagh said: “We are delighted to announce the further expansion of our transatlantic network with the addition of Dublin to Miami and increased frequency to Los Angeles, Orlando and Chicago improving connectivity to North America.”
